This seminar develops Leadership Mentors (PLMs) by enhancing their peer leadership, advocacy, and influence skills, emphasizing critical thinking, social awareness, and emotional intelligence. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors mentor first-year students in the First-year Fellowship program, gaining experience in mentoring, programming, facilitation, and curriculum design. PLMs teach True Colors Leadership Styles, facilitate a service project, and organize a campus-wide support program. The seminar includes community organizing, group dynamics, and emotional intelligence, focusing on leadership as social influence and effective communication to drive positive change.
RU-FIT is a one-credit, online asynchronous course led by peer instructors, tailored to assist international students in navigating their first semester at Rutgers. It emphasizes exploring personal identities and shared communities through remote learning and available resources. The course is designed to establish a strong foundation for a comprehensive college experience, link students to Rutgers resources, encourage participation within and beyond the online course community and clarify university expectations. Its primary objective is to equip students with the tools needed for academic success at Rutgers.
