During my time at the University of Michigan, I gained extensive knowledge and skills across various areas of social work and policy. Key learnings include:
Social Justice and Diversity: Courses such as “Engaging Social Justice, Diversity, and Interpersonal Practice” and “Power in Global Context” provided a deep understanding of social justice issues, power dynamics, and the importance of diversity in social work.
Trauma-Informed Practice: Specialized courses in trauma basics, trauma practice, and interprofessional trauma-informed practices equipped me with the skills to support individuals affected by trauma through culturally sensitive approaches.
Policy Analysis and Advocacy: Engaged in “Social Justice Policy Analysis” and “Political Social Work,” where I learned to critically evaluate policies and advocate for social change.
Research and Evaluation: Conducted program evaluations and applied research methods in courses like “Quantitative Methods for Social Justice Inquiry” and “Program Evaluation and Applied Research,” enhancing my ability to assess and improve social programs.
